Sultan Beibars
The ballet "Sultan Beibars" is a remarkably beautiful, strikingly exciting story about the dizzying path to the heights of fame and power. This path always requires sacrifice in the name of serving higher goals. The fate of a man who went from a warrior slave (Mamluk) to a powerful ruler of the most powerful state in the Middle East in the 13th century is surprising and contradictory. Sultan Beibars, earned the names "Abul-Futukh" ("Father of Victories") and "Rukn-ad-din" ("Support of Faith"). Born in the Desht-i-Kipchak steppes, Beibars I forever entered world history as a great commander who dispelled the myth of the invincibility of the Mongol horde.
