Premiere, symphony orchestra and classical ballet: what awaits the audience at the “Astana Ballet” Theater

On November 20 and 21, an evening of classical ballet art will take place at the “Astana Ballet” Theater. The metropolitan collective will present three works: the premiere of the classic divertissement "Triumph" by choreographer Ainura Abilgazina, the one-act ballet "Serenade" by George Balanchine and a fragment from Ricardo Amarante's ballet "Diversity".

Lovers of high art can enjoy the works of Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Antonio Vivaldi, Ludwig Minkus, Alexander Glazunov, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Charles Gounod and Camille Saint-Saens performed by the symphony orchestra under the direction of conductor Arman Urazgaliyev.

“It is a very good practice, in my opinion, when the theater provides its creative forces and a platform for young talented choreographers. Ainura Abilgazina's divertissement "Triumph" is staged to Tchaikovsky's music - suite for orchestra No. 3. This is a striking work that differs from the first two suites in breadth and scope. For the production, Ainura used the ending of the suite, which is written in the form of themes with variations. There is a large violin solo in these parts, it demonstrates the excellent sound and technical capabilities of the soloists who are to perform this work. In our case, this is a wonderful violinist Kalamkas Dzhumabayeva,” said maestro Arman Urazgaliyev.

Ainura Abilgazina, the leading soloist of the “Astana Ballet” Theater, has previously performed solo acts on the stage of her native theater, but Triumph will be her first major work, in which about twenty artists are participating. Turning to the canons of classical dance, the choreographer creates a divertissement, combining grace, sophistication and sublimity in it.

“This work is a celebration of classical art, because classical ballet is the beginning of the beginnings of all trends and styles. Possessing the basics of the Russian ballet school, I wanted to pay tribute to what was brought up in us and what a wonderful present we have today. I am very grateful to the management of the theater for the opportunity and faith in me as a choreographer. And of course, to the artists for their respect and support. Now I'm working on adjustments, adding or simplifying some elements. My main task now is to present the performance with dignity, all emotions will come after,” said choreographer Ainur Abilgazina.

Preparations for the premiere are proceeding at an accelerated pace: in rehearsal halls, artists are learning new choreography, costume designers are preparing costumes from repertoire performances for the show, and in the sewing workshop they create, perhaps, one of the brightest symbols of the ballet - a classic tutu.

According to the craftsmen of the sewing workshop, the manufacture of one ballet tutu of ten layers can take from 14 to 16 meters of special fabric - hard tulle. Men, according to all the canons of classical ballet, will be dressed in ballet leotards and jerkins.

The evening of classical ballet art will be held with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Start on November 20 at 19:30, on November 21 at 18:00.
