Conceived by the great Marius Petipa in 1904, the ballet remained unrealized for many years. A century later, this forgotten piece of classical heritage was brought back to life exclusively by renowned choreographer Vasily Medvedev, especially for the students of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography. It is a story of love, trials, loyalty, nobility, and the ultimate triumph of good.
The production’s enchanting atmosphere is enhanced by sets designed by Zhandos Omarov and exquisite costumes by Natalia Protasova, inspired by the original sketches of Ivan Vsevolozhsky, which were generously provided to the Academy by the St. Petersburg State Museum of Theatre and Music.
The youthful energy of the performers, combined with the excellence of the classical ballet school, will offer audiences a chance to discover a rare gem of world ballet, brought to new life on the Kazakh stage.
