Kozy Korpesh and Bayan Sulu are the favourite characters of Kazakh folk legends. Each character of the performance - Kozy and Bayan, Kodar and the Elder, Kozy’s Father and Karabay – has its own focal point and figurative language. The lives of the characters of the ballet are closely intertwined with Kazakh legends. The story of a great love and its opposition to the dark force is eternal, just as the moon and the sun are eternal above the earth. The fusion of the national language of dance with classical ballet and modern techniques allowed the authors of the performance and the artists to create a ballet-epos with a unique national charm.
The author’s interpretation of the legends of Kozy Korpesh and Bayan Sulu, offered by a balletmaster-director Georgy Kovtun, combines the best traditions of classical and modern ballet; characteristic movements of Kazakh folk dance and strength elements peculiar to acrobatics; innovative performance techniques and complex scenography; remarkably gorgeous and bright costumes of the characters and fascinating scenery; amazing lighting effects and memorable music. Everything in this amazing performance is stunning and creates a strong impression.
