Our country, leading the UN Security Council, without exaggeration sets the political pace in 2018.
President Nursultan Nazarbayev became the first head of a foreign country with an official visit, whom Donald Trump received at the White House this year. Performance of "Astana Ballet" theater on the stage of famous Lincoln Center decorates and complements these events.
During these important and historic days of President Nursultan Nazarbayev's visit to the United States, when the Kazakh-American relations become more robust and acquire expanded strategic partnership, “Astana Ballet” Theater plays at the Lincoln Center in New York. The most beautiful team worthily represents the distinctive culture of Kazakhstan. A video clip about them is watched by millions of residents and guests of New York on a billboard in one of the world's most visited tourist attractions - Times Square. The debut of “Astana Ballet” on the American stage took place in December 2015 - in the midst of our pre-election race for a seat in the UN Security Council. Representatives of 192 UN member states, which determined the outcome of elections to the Security Council, were among the spectators of the gala concert in the same Lincoln Center hall. It is quite obvious that the performance of "Astana Ballet" on the eve of voting in the UN General Assembly played an important role in Kazakhstan’s victory.
Mukaram Avakhri, chief choreographer of “Astana Ballet” Theater:
- It was such a start for us: national choreography and national dances predominated more in our evening. Of course, the troupe has grown for three years, the level has risen, the repertoire has expanded, and today we had such an opportunity to present "Astana Ballet" in all its diversity.
The current presentation of choreographic art of "Astana Ballet" is held within the framework of project "Modern Kazakhstan culture in the global world" under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan. A delightful combination of national color, traditional ballet school with modern motifs gives a special atmosphere to this unique performance. At first the audience enjoys choreographic miniatures and bright compositions of "Heritage of the Great Steppe" program. Unusual beauty and grace against the backdrop of Kazakh melodies and video installations lead the viewer into the vast expanses of Kazakhstan.

Here they are called world-class ballerinas with a high technique of performance. The repertoire of "Astana Ballet" impresses with its diversity and originality. Pas de deux from “Nutcracker”, fragments of neoclassical ballets by famous foreign choreographers to music of legendary composers and songs from the repertoire of Edith Piaf became a pleasant surprise to this fabulous evening.

- This is a part of our group of "Astana Ballet" theater, without which our creativity would probably not have taken place. Teacher Mayra Shafkatovna, our multimedia group: our head of dressing room Valentina Mikhailovna and head of costume department Zaure Muratovna. We were all excited and worried, but I think, made impression on the audience. Today, neoclassical miniatures in the production by Ricardo Amarante were also presented. These were fragments from ballet "A fuego lento" and a duet from ballet "Love Fear Loss".

So, the creative team of "Astana Ballet" presented the best samples of national contemporary ballet art of Kazakhstan on the Lincoln Center stage with the language of dance and plastics. With this presentation, the bright program "Yel Zhuregi-Astana" was launched, dedicated to celebration of the 20th anniversary of our capital. It is profoundly symbolic that this happened in the largest metropolitan area of the world immediately after the official meetings of the Kazakh leader with the American leader were over. Thus, the expansion of bilateral humanitarian cooperation, as President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Donald Trump stated recently, is supported by concrete content.
