A spectacular journey: “The Silk Road” at Astana Ballet

The eventful X anniversary season of the Astana Ballet Theatre is nearing completion and “The Silk Road” production by Mukaram Avakhri to the libretto of the Kazakhstani poet Bakhyt Kairbekov will be presented already on July 8. The authors of the performance invite the audience to go on a spectacular and fascinating journey along the mysterious roads of the historical Silk Road.

“This performance takes a special place in our repertoire, and I am glad to see how the audience is looking forward to it. It impresses with its beauty and uniqueness, allowing spectators to feel the mysterious world of the East. It takes us to distant countries, filled with the atmosphere of silk travelling. This ballet combines traditions and modernity, beautiful performance and deep meaning, creating a unique visual and emotional experience for every spectator. We are proud that this performance has won the recognition of our spectators and continues to delight them with its uniqueness,” said Nurlan Kanetov, Artistic Director of the Astana Ballet Theatre.

“The Silk Road” performance is a real cultural treasure trove, which combines an exquisite oriental zest, a special atmosphere of the era, an amazing visual environment, and a unique choreographic language. The plot is inspired by the indescribable charm and magic of history, emphasizing its emotional and symbolic significance, and highlighting the importance of cultural exchange and interaction among people.

The musical basis of the ballet was composed by the works of four composers, namely Armand Amar, Vladimir Ivanoff, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, and Renat Gaissin.

The event will be held with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
