The Astana Ballet Theatre has prepared an impressive program for the capital audience, which is going to be shown on November 6. “The evening of one-act ballets” combines the following interesting and intriguing productions: “A Journey of a Memory” by Raimondo Rebeck, as well as two works by the guest choreographer Ricardo Amarante – “A Fuego Lento” and “Love Fear Loss”.
The one-act ballet named “A Journey of a Memory” by Raimondo Rebeck will be presented in the first section. This ballet immerses the audience in the illusory interweaving of human memory. A mesmerizing choreographic production combined with the highest level of performance and colourful scenography to the piercing romantic melodies of Frederic Chopin, Ezio Bosso, Philip Glass and Fazil Say produces an indelible effect on the spectators.
“We all have our own memories. They are joyful and sad ones. Some remain with us forever; others disappear with time. The main character of my ballet is a woman. She comes on a stage as a real person and her memory. Looking at the mirror, she finds herself in the looking glass, where she sees the people who have left, where the past comes to life. In the mirror we see not only our reflection, but also our emotional experiences, our whole life... I try to create signs, moments, push a button in the audience's mind so that people can recollect something important when they see certain movements and images on stage,” - the choreographer admits in one of his interviews.
In the second section, the audience will be presented with “Love Fear Loss” by the guest choreographer Ricardo Amarante. Three delightful and temperamental duets inspired by the extraordinary life and delightful music of the French singer Edith Piaf are another example of high-quality modern choreography, transforming eternal classical traditions. The “Hymn of Love” song tells us about the emotions that we experience at the beginning of our relationships. The fascinating interpretation of “Don’t leave me” reveals the theme of difficulties in relationships. The “My God” song expresses some of the strongest feelings that a person can experience when losing a loved one. Created after the sudden death of the singer’s beloved one, this song, as a mirror of her soul, reflects the full depth of the tragedy that befell this great love story.
In the neoclassical production named “A Fuego Lento” (“Slow Fire”) Brazilian choreographer Ricardo Amarante tells us about the all-consuming passion and the first feelings of love and desire in the language of modern choreography. This is a bright dynamic performance with expressive plastique to the original music of the great Argentine composers Astor Piazzolla and Pablo Ziegler. Torrid and exciting tango melodies sharpen all emotions and forever remain in the hearts of the spectators.
The event will be held with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture and Sports as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
