The evening of national choreography at the "Astana Ballet"

On December 1, the stage of the "Astana Ballet" Theatre will be transformed into a unique venue for showing the modern achievements of Kazakh choreographic art.  The poster contains the program “The Heritage of the Great Steppe”, unique in content, as well as the one-act ballet “Zhusan” staged by the theatre’s chief director Mukaram Avakhri.

"The Heritage of the Great Steppe" is a collection of the best choreographic miniatures from the theatre's repertory, which harmoniously combine ethnographic elements and modern choreography. This program is traditionally included in the theatre's tour poster: it was equally enthusiastically applauded in London, Milan, Monaco, New York and many other countries. The British Times noted “national color”, “wealth of costumes” and “wonderful performance” of Kazakhstan artists.

Each choreographic miniature of the honored workers of Kazakhstan Mukaram Avakhri and Aigul Tati is an amazing mini-performance, with colorful costumes, interesting dramaturgy and recognizable melodies. Also, a new dance number of Kazakhstan choreographer Anna Tsoy - “Mane Wild” to the music of the composer Gaziz Tumanov will be presented in this evening. It is a fascinating mini-story about the music of the steppes, which calls for a herd of horses for eternal, impetuous movement.

In the one-act ballet "Zhusan" (Sagebrush), the choreographer tells of the indomitable spirit of the people, the gloomy pages of their history, and the great vitality transferred through the image of the grass of zhusans. The combination of original choreography with great examples of European, Russian and national music gives the performance a special flavor and mysticism. Lighting effects and video installations are designed to immerse spectator to the atmosphere of a real journey along the vast Sary-Arka, shrouded in legends and myths.

The performance begins on December 1st at 18:00.
