The evening of American choreography at the “Astana Ballet”

On October 4 and 5, the Astana Ballet Theatre will present the first premiere of this fall, the one-act ballet “Concerto Barocco” by George Balanchine. It will take place as part of a new program - "The evening of American Choreography", which will include another famous production of the American neoclassic - "Serenade". Plotless productions in which music and dance are a single whole have become a symbol of the neoclassical style of the American choreographer.

By the way, “Astana Ballet” was the first theatre in Central Asia to stage performances in collaboration with the George Balanchine Trust and in accordance with the standards of the style and technique of the choreographer.

The performances begin: October 4 at 19:30, October 5 at 18:00

In addition, the seventh theatre season promises many delightful premieres, as well as shows of ballets already loved by the public.

On October 12, lovers of ballet art will see the return of the brilliant contemporary choreographer - William Forsythe with his masterpiece “In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated”.

On November 8 and 9, residents and guests of the capital will be presented with the “Astana Ballet Presents” program, which the theatre team prepared for a US tour on November 19-22. It will include: a divertissement of “The Heritage of the Great Steppe”, one-act ballets by Ricardo Amarante “Love Fear Loss” and “A Fuego Lento”, as well as ballet by Nicolo Fonte “Love’s Lost Idols”.

On December 1, on the stage of the Astana Ballet, the national ballet Zhussan will be shown in the production of the theatre’s chief choreographer, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Mukaram Avakhri. The performance was based on legends and myths about the steppe people, whose allegorical image is embodied in dance miniatures. The concert program “The Heritage of the Great Steppe”, which will include the pearls of Kazakh folk dance, will continue the national theme.

On the eve of the New Year, two fabulous productions await residents and guests of the capital at once, one of which will be presented for the first time in Kazakhstan. The ballet to the music of 19-21 centuries, directed by Russian choreographer Nadezhda Kalinina is “Cinderella”. Premieres will be held on December 20, 21 and 22.

And in continuation of a good tradition - to celebrate the New Year with “The Nutcracker” - Astana Ballet Theatre invites adults and children to plunge into the magical atmosphere of Vasiliy Vainonen’s ballet on the plot of a fairy tale about a brave doll and an evil mouse king. The performances will be shown from December 26 to December 31 inclusively.
