The Astana Ballet Theatre has announced that the X anniversary theatrical season is opening. The theatre’s collective returned from vacation some days ago, and in early September the theatre’s dancers will come onto the stage to delight their beloved spectators. There is not much time left before that, so the work in the theatre is literally in full swing: there are both rehearsals of the favourite performances of the capital’s audience, and work on new productions, the premieres of which will be presented to the spectators in the forthcoming season.
On September 9 and 10, admirers of choreographic art will be presented with “The Silk Road” performance, the premiere of which became a bright revelation of the last season. The author of the libretto was Bakhyt Kairbekov, and the choreographer was Mukaram Avakhri. The authors of the ballet invite the spectators to a figural journey along the Great Silk Road, in which different civilizations are elegantly intertwined. The idea of staging the ballet is implemented by the Foundation for the Development and Support of Ballet and National Dance with the assistance of the General Partner – “Samruk-Kazyna” JSC.
“The theme of the Silk Road is incredibly auspicious, inexhaustible, and fantastically rich. The East, wondrous and alluring, is closest to me in temperament and emotions. We do not define any specific time period in our production, because music and dance are timeless phenomena. Colossal energy in music, expressive and integral images, conciseness of stage scenery, originality of ideas, magic happening on stage, as well as talented artists who managed to implement the idea of the production – all these will be presented to the audience at the season opening in our theatre. This is a performance-recognition, which I especially cherish”, Mukaram Avakhri shared.
Talented figures of art took part in the creation of the ballet performance: the author of the libretto Honoured Figure of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Kairbekov, composers Renat Gaissin, Armand Amar, Vladimir Ivanoff, and Omar Faruk Tekbilek, assistant choreographer Aizhan Zhunissova, costume designers Assel Shalabayeva and Dina Buksikova, stage designer Askar Iskakov, video artist Nurlan Kerei, and lighting designer Robert Dautov.
“The Silk Road” performance was incredibly favourably received by the audience, obtaining a huge number of enthusiastic reviews.
“I am astonished how beautifully and artistically it all turned out. If you look at it from either direction, it is a wonderful production both in choreography and scenography, it is very beautiful. The Silk Road for me is not only history, not only culture, not only trade, but also our current communication, our future”, the Ambassador of Czech Republic to Kazakhstan Rudolf Hykl shared his emotions.
“We are always delighted to perceive the theme of the Silk Road, which leads us from the most ancient origins to the present day. It seems to me that this is a new concept, another revelation of our ballet art”, said Aktoty Raimkulova, the director of the “Qazaqconcert named after Roza Baglanova”.
By the way, the premiere of TV version of “The Silk Road” ballet, directed by Takhir Aliyev, will take place very soon on the air of Kazakhstani TV channels.
The events will be held with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
