On March 25-26, on the stage of the Astana Ballet Theatre, the capital’s audience will be presented with an incredibly beautiful and fascinating gala concert entitled “the Heritage of the Great Steppe”, timed to Nauryz, one of the main spring holidays. For the first time, these unique choreographic miniatures will be shown accompanied by the ethnic and folk music group “HASSAK”.
The signature performance of the theatre is enthusiastically welcomed not only in Kazakhstan, but also abroad. Every time it is resplendent with new facets, enriched with new concert numbers, as well as gives an opportunity to see the unique charm of national dance, and steppe motifs, familiar since childhood, penetrate the very heart.
The gala concert will start with the premiere of the choreographic suite “Tanir syiy - Ak Zhol” (Heavenly gift – the sacred path) to the music of the ethnic and folk music group “HASSAK”. With the help of plastic means, choreographer Aigul Tati, Honoured Figure of Kazakhstan, figuratively conveys the idea of how Tengri and the goddess Umai illuminate the path of people, and give them life together with the elements of nature. The path is a lifelong constant movement. The road is sacred for a nomad. “Ak Zhol” - this is how the nomads were blessed, when they were passing their path, this is how a person is blessed so that he or she would find a path, a purpose in life.
“Tanir syiy - Ak Zhol” is a bright national choreographic miniature with interesting dramaturgy, which reflects the connection of times and generations. This is a narration about how the precepts of the ancestors, their culture and worldview are preserved in the hearts, minds and souls of contemporaries. This tells about the fact that the previous generations have passed on to the present ones a rich culture and traditions.
The costume designer of the performance is the Honoured Figure of Kazakhstan Muslim Zhumagaliyev, and the stage designer is Zhandos Omarov.
The Astana Ballet Theatre has a good tradition together with the Veterans Organization - to congratulate veterans annually and invite them to visit the performances in honour of the Nauryz holiday. This year is no exception.
By the way, on April 1-2, the capital’s audience will be presented with the first premiere of 2022 – the one-act ballet “Falling Angels” by the genius of modern dance Jiří Kylián, set to the music of Steve Reich.
The events will be held with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
