The Astana Ballet team got back from vacation and is preparing for the opening of the XI theatrical season. The repertoire of the capital theatre includes both premieres and performances which are already well-known and loved by many viewers. The new theatrical season, as assured by the directorate and artistic management of one of the main theatres of the country, will be full of extensive creative ideas. A new production is already being prepared — the national fairy tale called “Ot Kyz”.
The artistic director of the Astana Ballet Theatre, Honoured Artist of Russia and Tatarstan Nurlan Kanetov told what the audience can expect of Astana Ballet in the XI theatrical season.
– We are glad that we will open our stage with the ballets “Carmen Suite” and “The Arcana of Fate” already on September 15 and 16. I can almost physically feel how the theatre missed the audience. We try to surprise the audience with new performances and extraordinary solutions in their staging. After a short rest, we return full of energy, with new constructive ideas for successful work and the implementation of creative projects.
What premieres are expected in the new theatrical season?
– It is very important for us to always be in a creative search, to be open to experiments on the stage, this is what gives impetus and motivation for the further development of the company and the theatre as a whole.
We have 2 premieres planned before the New Year. I would like to mention that one of the most important directions of our theatre is the creation of national performances and now we work on the premiere of the “Ot Kyz” production staged by the chief choreographer of the theatre Mukaram Avakhri to the music of the famous Kazakhstani performer Karina Abdullina. Also, we do not forget about the classics, the premiere of “Romeo and Juliet” by S. Prokofiev will take place in December.
What about touring? Are you planning any tours?
– In the near future we plan to visit Ust-Kamenogorsk with an amazing musical program – an evening of chamber music “Barocco” and a concert of the symphony orchestra “Music Tour” under the baton of conductor Elmar Buribayev.
In October we are planning a tour to Geneva with the iconic performance “Carmen Suite” by A. Alonso together with Ballet Globe with the participation of world ballet stars, and there is also a prospect of a tour to Italy.
Do you have any “favourites” in the repertoire?
– Every performance is dear to my heart, I have no “favourites”, because while staging every performance we become utterly absorbed in work, undertake enormous efforts of all departments, hone our skills for months to delight and surprise our spectators.
What else has the theatre prepared for the audience in the new season?
– We hope that this season will become a season of new theatrical achievements and undoubtedly enthusiastic reactions of the audience. Besides premieres and tours, we plan to resume the show of several amazing productions from our repertoire that have not been presented on our stage for a long time.
In addition, we decided to start the XI season with a reinterpretation of visual codes and signature style. The audience could already appreciate the first changes — posters of upcoming performances are made with a new logo.
What do you want to tell the audience?
– We really missed the shining eyes, sincere emotions and smiles and are looking forward to meeting our viewers. Rehearsals and technical shows of productions are already being held, a lot of effort and work has already been undertaken.
Theatre is an exchange of vivid energy. This is its strength, miracle and immortality. Through the theatre, we try to perceive ourselves and this world, the theatre is life itself.
