The Astana Ballet Theatre has prepared for its audience an interesting and diverse show bill for April, which is adorned with masterpieces of ballet art, uniquely designed performances, and a symphony concert.
April 1 and 2, the premiere of the choreographic miniature “Falling Angels” by the genius of modern dance Jiří Kylián staged by choreographer Stefan Zeromski will take place. The capital’s company will present one of the most famous black-and-white ballets that brought international recognition to Kylián. This is a women’s ballet, set to the drumbeat of “Drumming” by Steve Reich. Each knock is like an internal impulse that contributes to the honed movements of ballerinas, attracting the spectators’ eyes.
“The Arcana of Fate” ballet will be presented in the second part of the evening, the libretto and music for which was written by the famous Kazakhstani performer Karina Abdullina, Honoured Figure of Kazakhstan. The choreographer of this ballet is Mukaram Avakhri, the chief choreographer of the Astana Ballet Theatre, Honoured Figure of Kazakhstan.
On April 9, the concert of the symphony orchestra of the Astana Ballet Theatre “Beethoven. Brahms. Heartbeat” will take place. The first part will feature a Concerto for Violin and Orchestra D-dur by Johannes Brahms. The laureate of international competitions, laureate of the Foundation of the First President Kalamkas Dzhumabayeva will perform as a soloist. In the second part there will be presented the Symphony No. 7 A-dur by Ludwig van Beethoven.
The wonderful works that you will hear during this concert are among the most recognizable and famous creations of great composers. They are united by the genius of their creators, as well as the constant popularity and devoted love of musicians and listeners, beyond the control of time. Such works unalterably attract, fascinate again and again, amaze the imagination, and encourage reflection.
On April 15 and 16, the capital’s audience will be presented with the legendary poem of love “Kozy Korpesh - Bayan Sulu”, staged by the Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation Heorhii Kovtun to the music of Aktoty Raimkulova, dedicated to the Day of Love in Kazakhstan. The crown jewel of the romantic epics of the Kazakh people, which formed the basis of the plot, seems to be created for a ballet with its contrasts, the opposition of good and evil, love and hate, devotion and betrayal.
On April 22 and 23, the two-act performance “Sultan Baybars” staged by Mukaram Avakhri will be shown. The outline of the production gently leads spectators into the past, revealing the pages of the amazing life of a historical figure, the Mamluk sultan of Egypt and Syria. Talented artists of Kazakhstan took part in the creation of the ballet: the libretto was written by the Honoured Figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a poet Bakhyt Kairbekov, music for the ballet was created by Khamit Shangaliyev and Alibek Alpiyev.
The idea of staging a ballet on a historical theme belongs to the “Foundation for the Development and Support of Ballet and National Dance” with the assistance of the General Partner – “Samruk-Kazyna” JSC.
On April 29, the admirers of choreographic art will be presented with the “Evening of one-act Ballets”, the program of which includes “Serenade” by G. Balanchine and “The Arcana of Fate” by M. Avakhri.
“Serenade” to the music of P. Tchaikovsky’s “Serenades for Strings” is a recognized masterpiece of neoclassical choreography, which adorns the ballet repertoire of any world company that strives to keep up with the times. The performance fascinates starting from the first minute: it contains the pure beauty of choreographic fantasy, embodied on stage by talented dancers of the Astana Ballet Theatre. The George Balanchine’s Ballet was prepared in collaboration with the George Balanchine Foundation and performed in accordance with the standards of style and technique.
The events will be held with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
