Dance as fate: for the first time the legendary Ukrainian ensemble named after P. Virsky performed in Nur-Sultan

The international festival of ballet art Eurasian Dance Festival in Nur-Sultan continues to acquaint the audience of the capital with new participants of the dance forum.

The National Honored Academic Dance Ensemble of Ukraine named after P. Virsky. The team, created back in 1937 and today is one of the best folk dance ensembles in the world, and for more than 80 years, never ceases to amaze with the energy of dances, magnificent technique of performance and colorful kaleidoscope of costumes.

The program “Dance as fate”, shown to the audience with 14 numbers, half of which belong to the founder of the ensemble Pavlo Virsky.

P. Virsky is a very special name for Ukrainian culture. This is the standard to which all the folk dance groups in Ukraine strive to equal themselves. It is a benchmark not only for the domestic dance culture, primarily the quality of performance, professionalism, attitude to work.

The vibrant theatricalization of folk dance, enriched by virtuoso technique with modified acrobatic stunts, was opposed to the direct transfer to the scene of folklore and dance patterns in their original form.

Colorful costumes, alternation of rhythms and colors in each new issue, whirlwind of spins, flight frequency of jumps, fascinating beauty of round dances, sparkling humor - all this range of impressions did not leave anyone in the audience indifferent! The concert began with the choreographic composition “Ukraine my Ukraine!” Staged by Miroslav Vantukh, in which dance traditions and costumes from all regions of the country found expressions. The concert was crowned by the legendary “Gopak” Pavlo Virsky, the quintessence of the Ukrainian Cossacks, the business card of the ensemble.

Today, the Ensemble visited 80 countries, was in Kazakhstan during the Soviet period, during the years of Independence took part only in a small gala-concert, so this is the first full-fledged performance of the world-famous band in Nur-Sultan.

The strictest discipline struck us at rehearsals, as in the army. No unnecessary talk, "swinging", penetrations into "full legs" - everyone worked with full dedication, as at a concert, sweat rolled in a hail, but smiles blossomed on their faces, and the pleasure with which the artists worked could only be envied! This discipline was introduced by Virsky, who himself worked until the seventh sweat and did not let the artists descend. Some people remember that he could bring to tears ballerinas with remarks like: “Do you have both left legs ?!” The style of rehearsals that the People’s Artist of Ukraine Vlodimir Tuyagin spent at the Astana Ballet Theater, the lead singer of the troupe in the past, and today the choreographer and tutor, was also distinguished by conciseness, rare but caustic remarks and unquestioning obedience and full dedication of the dancers.

Artists are accustomed to touring life, have seen many theaters and various venues. From the theater Astana Ballet, as well as in general from the capital were in complete delight:

Director of the National Honored Academic Dance Ensemble of Ukraine named after Pavlo Virsky Victor Zavadsky:

“The first impression from the theater is envy, pure white envy from what they saw in Nur-Sultan. I was also struck at the time by China, where gorgeous, state-of-the-art equipped halls are built! The fact that the country allows itself to build and maintain such theaters for people - that says a lot, it’s great! I hope we will reach to this in Ukraine too. ”

It is known that the author's theater dies with the director, and the choreography is even more so. Pavlo Virsky gone from the stage of life long time ago, and the team continues to exist without giving up their positions in the modern dance world, and the most lively and relevant productions are still the numbers of its founder. What is the secret? Probably this magic is explained very simply: Virsky all his life followed one dream - to express the spirit of the people in the dance and put his love for him in the works. He succeeded in making the dance his fate. Confirmation of this - full halls at concerts around the world. At the festival of ballet art at the Eurasian Dance Festival in Nur-Sultan, the hall also applauded for a very long time standing up for an excellent opportunity to immerse into the powerful element of folk dance.
