The performance of the “Astana Ballet” theatre captivated Atyrau’s audience.

“Astana Ballet” has completed its first tour in Atryau with an amazing program, which included the best examples of Kazakh choreographic art, as well as the world’s well known masterpiece of neoclassicism the “Serenade”. The performance took place as part of the celebration of the 175th anniversary of Abay Kunanbaev. The whole auditorium of the Theater named after Makhambet Utemisov did not skimp on applause and rave reviews, over and over again calling the performers of the capital on the encore.

In the first section, the audience was presented with the ballet “Serenade” by George Balanchine. This is a production, that was included in the golden catalog of ballets of the 20th century, it was first presented on the Kazakhstan stage in 2017. For many art lovers, the Serenade to Tchaikovsky’s music is perceived as a starting point, which helps to navigate the space of art, this is a bright milestone in the history of dance of the twentieth century.

“Balanchine did not recognize the romantic interpretation and denied the hidden plot in it. He said that in this ballet the dancers simply move to beautiful music. The only plot of the ballet - if you like - is a dance under the moon. This is the first ballet that he created when he arrived to America”, noted the performers.

The performance left an indelible impression! The beautiful music of Tchaikovsky in the combination with the movements of the performers, lights, costumes - all this has created the impression of some kind of magic, or even mysticism... I am definitely in love! I was struck by the purity of the performance, successive choreographic drawings, and synchronism. It was a very high level of performing!” - said the viewer William Galant.

The Atyrau audience truly appreciated the beauty and grace of the national Kazakh dance, which formed the basis of the concert program “Heritage of the Great Steppe”. It included choreographic miniatures created by domestic masters of dance art - Mukaram Avahri and Aigul Tati. In their works, they appeal to ethnographic materials, history and traditions of the Kazakh people, translating them into the language of modern choreography.

“Thanks for tonight, it was awesome!” Choreography, music, costumes and light - everything was so beautiful and harmonious. We are very glad that Astana Ballet has visited our city, we hope that now it will become a good tradition. Thank you for the emotions and enjoyment,” said a resident of Atyrau.
