Soloists of the Mariinsky Theater on the stage of the “Astana Ballet”
On January 29 and 30, the “Astana Ballet” Theater will show one of the most famous ballets in the whole world – “The Nutcracker” to the music of P. Tchaikovsky and choreography by Vasily Vainonen.On the first day of the performance, the actors of the Mariinsky Theater - prima ballerina Oksana Skorik and soloist Yevgeny Konovalov - will appear on the “Astana Ballet” stage for the first time as Mashenka and the Nutcracker. On the second day, January 30, the leading soloists of the “Astana Ballet” will perform in the title roles: Tatyana Ten and Sundet Sultanov.
Oksana Skorik has performed many parts from the golden fund of the classical heritage over the years of her career. Her extensive repertoire also includes ballets by famous contemporary choreographers such as Hans van Manen, A. Ratmansky, W. MacGregor and others. Laureate of many international competitions and awards, Oksana Skorik graduated from the Perm Choreographic School in 2007 and then was admitted to the troupe of the Mariinsky Theater, and in 2015 she received the title of prima ballerina of the theater.
Yevgeny Konovalov, a graduate of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, has been with the Mariinsky Theater since 2012. Behind his shoulders is work with both the classical repertoire and the performances of choreographers of the XX and XXI centuries.
It should be noted that at the “Astana Ballet” Theater, “The Nutcracker” was staged in the version of Vasily Vainonen. Four years ago, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, Rector of KazNAKh Altynai Asylmuratova brought it to the stage of the capital theater. The Vainonen's “Nutcracker” is the most cozy, fabulous and magical performance, perhaps because it is performed by children and for children. In addition to professional artists, about 160 students and pupils of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography take part in the performance. Such a New Year's review of the younger generation of dancers brought up in academies and colleges has long become a tradition for many theaters around the world. It dates to 1958, when the Mariinsky Theater presented its “Nutcracker” to the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, and since then every new generation of the school has been dancing it on the stage of the theater as a graduation performance, gaining an irreplaceable experience of the big stage.
The spectacle is based on the well-known plot of the German fairy tale by E. Hoffmann in the retelling of A. Dumas the father about the doll and the mouse king. The scenography for the play was designed and created by Zhandos Omarov, the costumes - Olga Shaishmelashvili. Symphony orchestra under the direction of maestro Arman Urazgaliyev.
