On December 14, at 7 pm, the Astana Ballet Theatre will present to the capital’s public the national divertissement “The Heritage of the Great Steppe” in the author’s interpretation of Honoured Figures of Kazakhstan Aigul Tati and Mukaram Avakhri, dedicated to the Independence Day of Kazakhstan. The event will be held with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Centring on the richness of classical heritage and modern ballet art, the Astana Ballet Theatre develops and brings national dance to the international stage. A deep ethnographic and figurative narration about national identity in the language of dance has long been the signature performance of the theatre and more than once drawn a round of applause in the largest cities of Europe and America. Kazakhstani choreographers Mukaram Avakhri and Aigul Tati appeal to the history and traditions of the Kazakh people in their works.
“The collection of dance suites “The Heritage of the Great Steppe” takes in everything valuable that is in our culture and our rich history. We try to convey what is in the soul of the people through dance and the language of plastique. Our theatre pays priority attention to the development of the national ballet, as well as the search and finding of the most expressive means for the embodiment of national traditions on the ballet stage,” Aigul Tati says.
The national divertissement “The Heritage of the Great Steppe” is like a gem necklace, on which colourful choreographic miniatures of different stylistic orientation are strung, united by one theme – amazing stories that took place in the vast expanses of the Great Steppe. This concert program contains the latest achievements of Kazakh choreographic art, as well as presents original and unusual combinations of ethnographic elements, dance traditions, and modern solutions of choreographers, which are accompanied by visual artistic effects and colourful costumes.
“We notice that spectators all over the world show an active and lively interest in the Kazakh national dance, distinguishing its special energy and vivid character, expression, originality, and fascinating storylines. Every time the concert program “The Heritage of the Great Steppe” sparkles with new facets, is enriched with new concert dance pieces, as well as gives an opportunity to see the unique charm of national dance, and steppe motifs, familiar since childhood, sink deep into the heart,” shared Nurlan Kanetov, artistic director of the theatre.
Indeed, choreographic miniatures performed by the dancers of the Astana Ballet Theatre reveal the soul of the people, their greatness and wisdom: there is a rich cultural heritage, grace, elegance and versatility in every movement, and the audience, in turn, discover the captivating beauty of ballet art, narrated and brought to light by the masters.
