Nurlan Kanetov, the Honored Artist of Russia and Tatarstan, ex-dean of the faculty of the choreography of KazNAC, has been appointed to the post of artistic director of the “Astana Ballet” Theater.
Nurlan Kanetov began his creative activity in the troupe of the Abai State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater (Almaty), where he worked until 1996. In 1996, Nurlan Kanetov became the leading soloist of the Musa Jalil Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. In 2006 he was awarded the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and art "For the development of the traditions of the national epic in the modern conditions of the dialogue of cultures." Nurlan Kanetov became the first and only among the Kazan dancers to be awarded the high title of laureate of the State Prize of Russia. Another indicator of the all-Russian recognition of N. Kanetov's talent was his rewarding with the prestigious theatrical prize of Russia - the “Soul of Dance” prize from the “Ballet” magazine in “the Rising Star” nomination (2003).
In 2018, Nurlan Kanetov ended his dance career. For more than twenty years Kanetov was the “face” of the Kazan ballet, an unsurpassed performer of lyrical and romantic roles. Behind his shoulders are the leading roles in the performances included in the golden fund of the classical heritage. In 2018, Nurlan Kanetov was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Choreography at the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography in Nur-Sultan.
