“The Heritage the Great Steppe” concert program includes choreographic miniatures and fragments of ballets with a prominent national zest, created in recent years. The concert pieces include productions by the Honoured Figure of Kazakhstan Aigul Tati: “Ak Kyz” (Kazakh folk music arranged by Edil Khusainov), “Gazhayip Tabigat” (musical composition of the “HASSAK” ethno-folklore group), “Balbyrauyn” (music by Kurmangazy), “Kyz Sagynyshy” (music by the People’s Artist of Kazakhstan Shamshi Kaldayakov arranged by Kuralai Kanapina), “Assem Konyr” (music by Dina Nurpeisova), “Tanyr syiy – Ak zhol” (music by the “HASSAK” ethno-folklore group), and others. The premiere of the choreographic miniature “Sarzhailau” choreographed by Aigul Tati to the music of Tattimbet will take place on the main concert stage of Taraz. The Sarzhailau kyui contains the deep and ancient wisdom of the Great Steppe, as well as reflects the eternally young and incomprehensible beauty of its nature and great outdoors. On the stage of the “Balasagun” Central Concert Hall, the Astana Ballet performers will present a poem about the Great Steppe, narrated in the language of movements, which is about the source of life-giving power for nomads, about the bright and colourful steppe nature.
“The Heritage of the Great Steppe” program reflects the systematic and consistent activities of the theatre aimed at the development of modern choreographic art and the creation of works that represent the traditions of the Kazakh people’s dance art. The choreographic miniatures and ballets of the theatre organically combine classical dance with an inexhaustible spring of folk art. The pieces of “The Heritage of the Great Steppe” concert program reflect the spiritual energy, as well as the ideals of choreographic beauty maintained in folk dance. Along with great attention to folk stage dance, the company’s repertoire includes the best classical works such as “The Nutcracker”, “Giselle”, and ballets staged in the neoclassical and Art Nouveau styles. Such ballets include productions by G. Balanchine, W. Forsythe, J. Kylián, Y. Grigorovich and others.
