The Astana Ballet Theatre is glad to announce the start of the “Literary Debut” audience review competition. It will last until October 31, and the results will be announced on the theatre’s website and social networks. The winner will be awarded with a cash prize of 100,000 tenge and a subscription to attend performances. Hereby the theatre would like to reach a new level of communication with the audience and aims to find new names among the authors.
The mission of the Astana Ballet Theatre is to foster an interested and thinking audience. The main objectives of the competition are to identify and support talented ballet critics, develop their creative potential, and introduce participants to the best pieces of national culture and art.

Each participant will be given access to view two one-act ballets from the repertoire of the theatre at option. If you are an admirer of the creative work of the capital theatre and often go to performances, if you want to share your impressions about what you watched, you may wish to take part in the competition of theatrical reviews “Literary Debut”. Tell us about the performance that you watched, about what thoughts the performance caused, how the performers danced, how the stage was decorated, what kind of music sounded. Try to present the performance as accurately, thoroughly and fascinatingly as possible, so that the reader has the feeling that he or she was sitting in the auditorium with you and watching the stage.
Within the framework of the competition, original reviews from 3,500 to 7000 characters are considered. The works are accepted from October 1 to October 25, 2022 (including that date) by e-mail pressa@astanaballet.kz with the theme “Literary Debut”. The selection of the winner of the competition is made by the competition commission, which includes Deputy director Valeriy Kuzembayev, artistic director Nurlan Kanetov, and chief choreographer Mukaram Avakhri. The winner’s theatrical review will be published on the theatre’s website leaving all grammar and spelling unedited.
