An ancient oriental legend about love on the stage of Astana Ballet

The famous three-act ballet “The Legend of Love,” staged by the outstanding choreographer of the 20th century Yuri Grigorovich, will again shine on the stage of the Astana Ballet Theater on March 15 and 16. The screenings will be accompanied by the symphony orchestra of the capital's theater under the direction of chief conductor Arman Urazgaliev.

The premiere at Astana Ballet took place in 2019 and became one of the most long-awaited events in the cultural life of the capital. The play “The Legend of Love” is a fascinating story about love, passion, the struggle of a sense of duty and sacrifice, which is conveyed through the choreography and emotions of the artists.

The plot is based on an ancient oriental legend. Two sisters - Mehmene Banu and Shirin - fall in love with the court artist Ferkhad. Shirin immediately wins the heart of a beautiful young man, but mutual love is impossible for Mehmene Banu: she once sacrificed her fabulous beauty to save the life of her younger sister. Lovers Ferkhad and Shirin escape from the palace, but a difficult test awaits them. The ballet talks about the most tender and reverent human feeling - love.

It is also called ballet at the limit of possibilities: impressive scenes with the participation of the corps de ballet, temperamental monologues, all-consuming emotional impact and filigree precision, since the entire performance was originally conceived on this principle of Persian miniatures. The ballet attracts the audience's attention with its majesty, scale and intricate plot lines. Fantastic choreography, stunning scenography and an amazing combination of music will help viewers feel the captivating magnetism of the ancient Persian legend.

The main roles on different days will be performed by soloists of the capital's theater: Shirin - Tatyana Ten and Nazerke Aimukhametova, Ferkhad - Sundet Sultanov and Wesley Carvalho, Mehmene Banu - Kalamkas Orynbasarova and Natalia Fernandez Menes.

The ballet “Legend of Love” at Astana Ballet is a meeting with high art that can touch the deepest strings in the soul of every viewer.

The events will take place with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
