The long-awaited "Salome" and "Serenade" on the stage of "Astana Ballet"

The "Astana Ballet" will once again please its audience in the evening of one-act ballets "Salome" and "Serenade" on September 29-30.

The biblical story in the interpretation of the English playwright Oscar Wilde, which served as a source of inspiration for the creation of the ballet "Salome", will allow you to plunge into the bright world of feelings. An ancient history as the world, will be presented with a dynamic emotional language of dance that will give it a modern color. Musical design (composer Fazil Say) fills almost every empty space of the stage and literally electrifies the bodies of dancers. Difficult contrasting images of the main characters will enable the viewer to open the veil of the mystery of the human soul and, perhaps, to find out somewhere himself. Choreographer Mukaram Avakhri asks herself eternal questions about the struggle of the dark and light, but leaves them unanswered, letting everyone to make their own choice for themselves. The culmination of the performance will be the dance of young Salome - an episode of extraordinary popularity thanks to artists, sculptors and composers, who captured it in their creations.

The only unifying cleansing force, as in all times, will again be love, or rather its promise and anticipation.

"Serenade" adorns the ballet repertoire of any world troupe, which seeks to keep pace with the times. Although the premiere of this ballet took place in 1934, so far the "Serenade" is spoken of as a perfection, "the absolute of dance musicality, imagery and emotionality", where choreography is inseparable from music. And nowadays "Serenade" is perceived as a scale that helps to navigate in the art space, it is a bright milestone in the history of dance, and not only of the twentieth century.

Despite all the external simplicity, "Serenade" is very difficult in terms of technics, music and style and causes aesthetic excitement in the hearts of audiences from touching the beautiful and eternal art.

The "Astana Ballet" became the first theater in Central Asia to present in its repertoire the ballet "Serenade" in collaboration with the George Balanchine Foundation and in accordance with the standards of style and technique of the choreographer.
