"Astana Ballet" will perform in Almaty with new productions

The "Astana Ballet" Theatre presents its best performances and fresh premieres in Almaty! The tour of the artistic team will take place as part of the celebration of the 175th anniversary of Abay Kunanbayev. Within four days - February 19, 21, 22 and 23, a rich and multi-genre program will be shown at the stahe of the GATOB named after Abay.

On the first day, the collective will present its main dance direction - neoclassicism and modern choreography in three one-act ballets. So, the evening “Astana Ballet presents” includes the “Concerto Barocco” masterpiece by George Balanchine, "A Journey of a Memory” by R. Rebeck and “Love's Lost Idols” by N. Fonte.

On other days - February 21, 22 and 23, the Almaty premiere of the fairy tale ballet "Cinderella" will take place.  The magnificent music of Sergei Prokofiev, stunning scenery, colorful costumes and a story familiar from childhood - choreographer Nadezhda Kalinina brought together four components of a successful performance, multiplied them by magical choreography and sparkling humor, creating enchanting ballet for children and adults.

According to the management, the ballet in two acts will be adapted for the stage of the GATOB named after Abay. The creators promised that not a single magical detail of this performance will disappear and Almaty residents will see the performance in all its splendor. The Cinderella part will be performed by Tatyana Ten, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, Nazerke Aimukhametova and Darina Kairasheva; Prince’s part will be performed by Kazbek Akhmedyarov, Sundet Sultanov and Farkhad Buriyev.

“Of course, it is a great responsibility to represent our work in Almaty, because it is there that the school has brought up a plenty of artists, our mentor teachers work there, relatives live and, of course, the audience is special, emotional, intellectual and open”, - said Mukaram Avakhri, the chief choreographer of the theatre.

Also, an exhibition of one of the most sought-after photographers in the ballet world - Alexei Krivtsov, will be available for visitors to the theater. His work, created in collaboration with "Astana Ballet", allows to look at ballet dancers from completely amazing, and sometimes unexpected, angles. Each photography of this exhibition is a work of art that glorifies ballet grace and mastery, the individuality of Kazakhstan ballet and each artist in particular.

For residents and guests of Nur-Sultan, the "Astana Ballet" Theatre also prepared the opportunity to visit the magical performance again: the "Cinderella" ballet will be shown in the capital city on February 8 and 9, and the "Astana Ballet presents" program will be shown on the stage of the capital city's theatre on February 29.
