For the first time, "Astana Ballet» will perform in Atyrau.

Spring, bringing to life each update, will delight residents and guests of Atyrau with great news: for the first time, the "Astana Ballet" creative team will perform on the stage of the regional drama theater named after Makhambet Utemisov. The tour will take place over two days - March 12 and 13 as part of the celebration of the 175th anniversary of Abay Kunanbayev.

The contrasting and, at the same time, incredibly exquisite program will include George Balanchine's one-act ballet “Serenade” and the concert program the “Heritage of the Great Steppe”.

The ballet, which was included in the "Golden Fund of the Ballet of the 20th Century", the famous "Serenade" by George Balanchine, is rightfully considered one of the brightest masterpieces of the American choreographer. The premiere, which took place on the stage of the "Astana Ballet" Theatre in 2017, became a significant event for all of Kazakhstan ballet art. Then the collective became the first theater in Central Asia to present on its stage performances in collaboration with the George Balanchine Trust. The director of "Serenade" was the choreographer Victoria Simon, who recreated more than 25 Balanchine ballets around the world.

In the second section, the team will present the program the “Heritage of the Great Steppe”, which demonstrates the exceptional identity of Kazakh culture. Each choreographic miniature staged by distinguished figures Aigul Tati and Mukaram Avakhri is a legend reflecting the many-sided philosophy of the world outlook of the nomadic people.

The program contains the latest achievements of Kazakh choreographic art, presents original and unusual combinations of ethnographic elements, dance traditions and modern choreographic solutions.

The program “The Heritage of the Great Steppe” is traditionally included in the theater's tour poster. It was equally enthusiastically applauded in London, Milan, Monaco, New York and many other countries. The British "Times" noted national color, wealth of costumes and wonderful performance of Kazakhstan artists.

“We have long wanted to visit Atyrau with tours and show our art to guests and residents of this glorious city, whose population understands and appreciates the culture. It is no coincidence that George Balanchine’s world-famous one-act ballet "Serenade" and the pride of our repertoire poster, a national block called the " Heritage of the Great Steppe", recognized by Kazakhstan and foreign viewers, are included in the program. We hope that the art of our artists and the entire creative team of the theater will remain in the hearts of local audiences for a long time”, - said choreographer Aigul Tati.

By the way, on March 25-26, the metropolitan team will perform the same program in Semey on the stage of the Abay Theater.
