California met the "Astana Ballet" artists with sunny weather and, more importantly, with a storm of applause: the troupe of the metropolitan theater won the hearts of residents of San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles!
For four days - from November 19 to 22 - the artists represented Kazakhstani ballet art on the stages of the best theaters in the largest cities of the West Coast. This is the Herbst Theater in San Francisco, the California Center for the Arts and the Spreckles Theater in San Diego, as well as the famous Saban Theater in Los Angeles, which has been the leading theater of the "20th Century Fox" film company for many decades.
According to the artists, a rich and complex program, an active tour schedule, daily performances and flights between them turned out to be a difficult test, but they tempered the character and inspired to conquer new heights.
All four days of performances were sold out, the audience did not hold back emotions and escorted the artists with loud applause, flowers and exclamations of “bravo”. Acquaintance with the troupe began with the visiting card of the theater - the program “The Heritage of the Great Steppe”, which included the most colorful examples of Kazakh folk dance. During the intermission, the audience animatedly discussed the sound of national music, vivid artistic images and expressive choreography.
“The national dance made a tremendous impression on me. This is a completely different body plastic and mood - this is not often seen, especially here in California. I was struck by the richness of the costumes, these colorful colors and, of course, the music. There was something encouraging about her. This evening was a pleasant discovery for me, and I hope to someday see the performance of this beautiful troupe again, ” - said Susan Galant, a resident of San Francisco.
The artists of the theater also presented the “local” product - the one-act ballet of the American choreographer Nicolo Fonte - “Love's Lost Idols” - a lyrical and exciting ballet that immerses in a state of meditation, which answers the eternal question: “How can we live and love if everything that we know and love will end one day? ”.
The works of the invited choreographer Ricardo Amarante - “Love Fear Loss” and “A Fuego Lento” invariably cause audience delight anywhere in the world and the USA was no exception: the ovation after the final “A Fuego Lento” seemed to last forever.
“Bravo, it was a great performance at a very high level. It's nice that they brought a varied program, showed modern and national ballet, this allowed the artists to express themselves in different roles. I think the troupe has a great future, we will be glad to see them again in the USA! ”-shared Brian Mitchell, a resident of Los Angeles.
Upon returning to Kazakhstan, the "Astana Ballet" theater artists are waiting for preparations for the big winter premiere of the Cinderella ballet, which will take place on December 20-22, and the New Year’s performance for the whole family, The Nutcracker, from December 26 to 31, inclusively.
