On March 25 and 26, the "Astana Ballet" creative team will perform a tour in Semey as part of the celebration of the 175th anniversary of Abay Kunanbayev. These days, an exquisite program will be shown on the stage of the Abay Theater: the best examples of national choreography and a masterpiece of world ballet.
For the first time, residents and guests of Semey will see the ballet included in the “Golden Fund of the Ballet of the 20th Century” - “Serenade” by George Balanchine to the music of P. Tchaikovsky. This performance is rightfully considered one of the brightest masterpieces of the American choreographer.
“Many people think that this ballet has a secret plot. - said Balanchine himself. - This is not true. In it, the dancers simply move to the beautiful music. The only plot of the ballet is the music of serenade, if you like, it is dance under the moon ”.
The premiere in Nur Sultan took place in 2017 and was prepared in collaboration with the Balanchine Trust, in accordance with the standards of the style and technique of the choreographer. The metropolitan ensemble was the first theater in Central Asia to stage the famous American neoclassic ballet on its stage.
“We are proud that in our repertoire there are two performances for which we have the right to perform from the Balanchine Foundation - these are "Serenade" and "Concerto Barocco". The fund is very sensitive to the choreographer’s legacy and puts forward special requirements for the level of the troupe and the theater as a whole”, - added Mukaram Avakhri, the chief choreographer of the "Astana Ballet" Theater.
A program that has become the hallmark of the theatre – the " Heritage of the Great Steppe" will be presented in the second part. A unique collection of dance miniatures on national themes is presented by modern Kazakh choreographic art, which organically combines ethnographic elements, dance traditions and modern choreographic solutions.
Each choreographic miniature staged by distinguished figures Aigul Tati and Mukaram Avakhri is a legend reflecting the many-sided philosophy of the world outlook of the nomadic people. The unique plastic pattern, pithiness and at the same time, the singing of the performers' positions have attractive power and delight in tenderness and grace.
The program “Heritage of the Great Steppe” is traditionally included in the theater's tour poster. It was equally enthusiastically applauded in London, Milan, Monaco, New York and many other countries. Aesthetics, entertainment, the richness of costumes, the semantic depth of the choreographic works will forever fall into the soul and delight viewers around the world.
By the way, the "Astana Ballet" Theater has already performed on the stage of the Abay Drama Theater. 5 years ago, the audience was presented with the concert program “Eastern Rhapsody” - an exquisite and magnificent bouquet of oriental-style dances, with which the company toured the cities of China, Russia, France, Azerbaijan and Hungary. The program conquers with expressive plasticity of choreographic miniatures, unique images and luxurious costumes.
