On December 4, the creative company of the Astana Ballet Theatre performs on tour in Semey. The tour will take place with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture and Sports as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On this day, the best pieces of national choreography will be shown on the stage of the Abai State Kazakh Drama Theatre, which will immerse the audience in the atmosphere of a real journey through the vast Kazakh steppe.
One of the main directions of the Astana Ballet Theatre is the development and creation of new dance compositions based on national choreographic plasticity. Working in this direction, Kazakh choreographers try to find a harmonious relationship between ethnographic material and modern choreography, without losing the sense of character and the unique originality of the national dance.
The “Heritage of the Great Steppe” concert program is the showpiece of the Theatre. Each choreographic miniature staged by honoured figures Aigul Tati and Mukaram Avakhri is a legend reflecting the multifaceted philosophy of the mindset of the nomadic people. The inimitable plastic image, conciseness, and simultaneously the melodiousness of the positions of the performers possess an attractive force and delight with tenderness and grace.
This unique program is invariably included in the theatre's tour playbill. It was equally enthusiastically applauded in London, Milan, Monaco, New York, and many other countries. Aesthetics, spectacularity, vivid images, and interesting dramaturgy of choreographic works forever sink into the heart and delight spectators in the entire world.
Also, during this evening the audience will be presented with a fragment from the “Zhusan” one-act ballet (music by K. Shildebayev, S. Rachmaninov, A. Pärt). The “Zhusan” ballet staged by Mukaram Avakhri is called the first one-act ballet in national choreography dedicated to national history. It conveys the indomitable spirit of the people, the darkest and brightest pages of the past, as well as the great vitality transmitted through the image of the zhusan grass (wormwood). Bakhyt Kairbekov, Honoured figure of Kazakhstan, a poet, a film director, a screenwriter, whose poetic lines and images became the basis of the libretto, refers to this symbol of the steppe in his creations.
Performances start at 2 pm and 6 pm on December 4.
By the way, the Astana Ballet Theatre has already performed on the stage of the Abai Drama Theatre. 6 years ago, the audience was presented with the “Oriental Rhapsody” concert program, an exquisite and magnificent bouquet of oriental-style dances, with which the company performed on tour in the cities of China, Russia, France, Azerbaijan, and Hungary. The program captivates with expressive plasticity of choreographic miniatures, unique images, and luxurious costumes.
