Urazgaliyev Arman Kuanyshuly

Chief conductor

He graduated from an assistant internship with the degrees in “Wind instruments (trombone)” and then “Opera and symphonic conducting” (a class of professor T.A. Abdrasheva) of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory. 

He worked at the Kazakh State Philharmonic Hall named after Zhambyl, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Abai Kazakh National Theatre of Opera and Ballet as an instrumentalist. Since 2009, he worked as a conductor of the Abai Kazakh National Theatre of Opera and Ballet, an assistant to Vag Papyan, the chief conductor of the State Academic Symphony Orchestra. Since 2010 he worked as a teacher of the opera studio of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory. Since 2014, he has been appointed as the conductor of the Astana Opera Theatre. Since 2021 works as a guest conductor at the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.

The repertoire of A. Urazgaliyev includes the operas by G. Verdi, P. Tchaikovsky, R. Wagner, G. Donizetti, V. Bellini, G. Puccini, M. Tulebayev, E. Brusilovsky; the ballets by P. Tchaikovsky, A. Adan, L. Minkus, S. Prokofiev, N. Rimsky-Korsakov, I. Stravinsky, H. Løvenskiold, A. Serkebayev, as well as ballet performances to the music of I. Strauss, G. Zhubanova, and others. 

Arman Urazgaliyev is the conductor of such ballets as “Notre Dame de Paris” by M. Jarre, “Bayadere” and “Don Quixote” by L. Minkus, “Manon” by J. Massenet, “Swan Lake” by P. Tchaikovsky, and “the Fountain of Bakhchisarai” by B. Asafiev in a new production, “Corsair” and “Giselle” by A. Adan, “Coppelia” by L. Delibes; such one-act ballets as “Sounds of Time” by K. Zvereva to the music of A. Raimkulova, “Chopiniana” by M. Fokin to the music of F. Chopin, and “Scheherazade” to the music of N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov.

Arman Urazgaliyev has been working at the Astana Ballet Theatre since 2017. He is the conductor-director of such ballets as “the Nutcracker”, “the Legend of Love”, “Cinderella”, “Touch of Illusion”, “Serenade”, “Capriccio for Piano and Orchestra”. Since 2021 he has become a Chief Conductor of the Astana Ballet Theatre.
